Dr. Mariam A. Al-Mahdi
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan
Dr. Mariam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi worked as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan from February 2021 till October 2021.
She holds the position of Vice President of the National Umma Party for External Relations and Political Communication.
Dr. Al-Mahdi was born in the city of Omdurman, and joined the Faculty of Medicine in Jordan and obtained postgraduate studies in medicine in Liverpool, England, and a master's degree in pediatrics at the University of Khartoum. She also obtained a Bachelor of Law - Distinction with First Class Honors - Faculty of Law, Al-Neelain University, Khartoum, Sudan.
She was frequently arrested and imprisoned during dictator Al-Bashir rule, the most recent of which was in early 2019, when she was imprisoned in Omdurman Women's Prison, in implementation of a ruling issued against her because of her participation in a demonstration called by professionals union, which started in front of the Umma Party headquarters towards the parliament headquarters.
In addition to her political work, Dr. Mariam Al-Sadiq held many leadership positions in various fields during her life's journey, she was:

Head of the Women's Committee of Al Hilal Football Club
Member of the Board of Trustees of the Women's Research Center
Member of the Board of Trustees of the daily Al-Ahdath newspaper
Member of the Network of Women Working for Peace.
Member of the Board of Trustees of the Future Directions Foundation
